Fewer vibrant years beat extra fragile ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The money and math problem<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Some answers did the budget before the bucket list. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Christopher\u2019s take: <em>with rising expenses and dwindling earnings and savings. no thank you. <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Brinda joked she would live as long <em>as inflation doesn\u2019t swallow her money.<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Ruchi zoomed out to <em>hospitals and pensions already stretched by ageing populations.<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Aditi offered a counterweight. <em>If power and influence come with it, why not.<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Most people wanted the price clear before agreeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The sci-fi shiver<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our imagination went practical fast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Christopher pictured <em>a world where the rich extend life while the poor become the supply chain. <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Harjeet went straight to the hard edge and said <em>euthanasia should be legal, because once you are bedridden you should be allowed to go. <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>We were also pointed to a blocker we rarely admit. We don\u2019t talk about death enough. We plan every milestone and almost never plan endings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The heart talk<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Some replies were not about years at all. They were about who fills them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Sinjana wished <em>her mother could live forever by her side, then admitted she hasn\u2019t fully made peace with endings. <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Aarthi would <em>take another ten to fifteen years, mostly to see her children stand on their own feet. <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Many drew the same soft boundary. Stay while we are fit. leave before we become a burden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The meaning behind having long years<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Romila asked the question many were thinking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>120\u2013150 sounds exhausting. What would I even do with all that time. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Janaki joked<em> she is already planning her next janam. <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p> Live long enough and you will see a covid-style cycle again. Thanks, but no thanks?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If longer lives are coming, life design must change<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is what we would need before saying yes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Health before years. Extend mobility, clarity, independence. Not just the days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plan the exit. De-taboo death. Make wills and care choices part of life while we are alive and healthy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fair access. No two-tier immortality where money buys decades and dignity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work and worth, Careers, pensions, and parenting scripts must change. As Ashvini mentioned, the empty-nest pause is real, and longer lives will stretch that feeling unless we design for purpose.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consent and ethics matter. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The lines that kept returning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cindy said eighty. Romila said seventy good years with laughter and love. Neha said sixty to seventy is great if you can spread kindness and add value.
