In Vadodara this Navratri, the answer could be ₹499 for a season pass or ₹1.21 lakh for a VIP table for ten, complete with butler service, a dedicated photographer and valet parking.

These are actual offerings at Garba events in 2026, as reported by The Indian Express. And they offer a glimpse into the growing business surrounding one of India’s most recognisable cultural celebrations.

Garba has long been part of Gujarat’s community and religious traditions. In December 2023, UNESCO added it to its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Today, the dance continues in neighbourhoods and community grounds while professionally organised events attract sponsors, performers, hospitality companies and thousands of paying visitors.

How Big Is the Garba Economy?

The numbers are substantial. A 2025 estimate placed Gujarat’s wider Navratri economy at more than ₹15,000 crore, accounting for celebrations and related festive spending. It is an industry estimate rather than an audited figure, but it gives an indication of the commercial activity surrounding the festival.

Ticketing is one visible part of that activity. This year, The Red Imprints in Vadodara is offering Garba inside a two-lakh-square-foot air-conditioned dome, with daily passes starting at ₹999 plus GST. Its packages include live music, food facilities and QR-based entry.

For organisers, the revenue can come from ticket sales, sponsorships, advertising and hospitality packages. For visitors, the choices now range from relatively inexpensive community events to elaborate premium experiences.

The Businesses Beyond the Dance Floor

A Garba evening can begin generating business weeks before the music starts. People shop for chaniya cholis, kediyus and jewellery, book makeup appointments and enrol in dance classes. Costume rentals offer another option for those who want different outfits without purchasing everything.

Musicians, photographers, decorators, food vendors, transport providers and event production companies also participate in this seasonal market. The Financial Express reported in October 2026 that the business has expanded beyond major cities, with growing opportunities for fashion retailers, dance instructors and hospitality services.

Brands have recognised the opportunity too. Ahmedabad’s PYC Garba, for example, advertises more than 90,000 attendees across its nine nights in 2025 and over 180 brand partnerships. Its sponsorship offerings include visibility at the venue, on stage and through social media content. These are organiser-reported figures, but they illustrate why large cultural gatherings attract advertisers.

A Cultural Tradition With a Growing Market

Garba’s popularity also extends well beyond Gujarat. Celebrations in cities such as Mumbai and Delhi, along with events organised by Indian communities overseas, have helped create demand for performers, traditional clothing and organised festive experiences.

The growing commercial market has not replaced the community celebration. Both continue to exist, serving people with different budgets and preferences.

What makes Garba particularly interesting as a business story is the range of industries that benefit from the same cultural tradition. A dance that brings people together for nine nights also creates opportunities for artists, entrepreneurs, local retailers and major event companies.

And as organisers experiment with new formats and experiences, Garba’s place in India’s festive economy continues to grow.

What does it cost to play Garba?
