Science shows give us an opportunity to learn while being entertained. Here are some of our favourite picks:

How the universe works

It is a documentary science show that was originally on Discovery channel and now on Discovery plus. We explore the origins of the universe, and world-renowned physicists, astrobiologists, and other scientists present theories, facts, as they contemplate life on other planets, the formation of stars, galaxies, black holes, leaving no stone unturned. Also, the simulation is to die for!

Life on our planet

If David Attenborough narrates, we’ll listen to anything! The natural historian in his captivating voice and interesting British humour describes the natural world, and its relationship with humans. This can be watched on Netflix, Discovery Plus and there are a few on YouTube as well. The close-up photography and Attenborough’s talent of creating a beautiful storytelling narrative makes learning about the planet like a movie with a deep moral.

What if

This is a YouTube channel that uploads educational videos. It is run by a team of scientists and researchers. Each video starts with the question What if? The videos are around science and even recent trends. Something like “What if we fell through Jupiter’s gaseous surface?” is sure to pique curiosity. Presenting scenarios like that they explain what’s possible and what’s not.

Edge of the universe

Edge of the Universe is for science nerds who know their basics, and want to know more. Scientists explore one aspect of the cosmos in each episode. If you have questions about life beyond Earth, this is one show you can begin with on Netflix.

Explained

It is a science TV show created to simplify complex topics. Everything is based on hard facts, logic, and science. It’s like a mixture of things you need to know and things you were too afraid to ask about. This Netflix show has been a huge success.

These are our top 5, but the list is of course not exhaustive.
