What was I thinking?

Nah! I am not asking you what am I thinking of right now. I am thinking of the prompt and yes it is “What was I thinking?

All of us make plans. All of us make decisions. Some things work and some don’t. Decisions are made in at least two ways. There are those decisions where you weigh the pros and cons, calculate the risks that you will have to take and think about how this decision of yours will affect you in future. May be that new job you wanted to take or your dream house that you plan to build. Those decisions can go the right way or the wrong way.

Then there are those decisions that you do not give much thought to. They are the spur of the moment decisions. The ones made in an instant. You don’t really weigh the pros and cons. Most of the time you only see the bright side of these decisions. But one fine day or one fine moment when you realize what the result of the spur of the moment decision is, you ask yourself “What was I thinking?”

Oh yeah, those times when you decided to colour your hair blue or when you promised to give up your favourite food just because.. Umm well, let us not go to the reasons. The party you didn’t want to go but still said yes to, or that job you took just because you felt it was right.

Sometimes even well thought of decisions can make you go down the “What was I thinking?” road like Taking up something that you realize don’t like doing after you have agreed for it. A career choice for example. Not all “What was I thinking?” decisions have to be bad. There can be something good in it which we may not see at that moment. Let me quote my own example- Starting my blog. There were a lot of time when I asked myself “What was I thinking?” when I began my blog.

“What was I thinking?” does not mean that a decision has to be made. It could be those decisions which should have been taken but were not taken for numerous reasons that held you back. Not making a decision is also a decision.

This week tell us what made you go down the “What was I thinking?” road. You can be as serious or funny as you want to be. May be reading your blog post in the future could make you say “What was I thinking?”. 😛

What are you waiting for? Don’t think too much. Just write. Some spur of the moment decisions have awesome returns. Happy blogging 🙂
