All pastoral poetry draws on the tradition of the ancient Greek poet, Theocitrus, who wrote romanticized visions of Shepherds living rich and fulfilled. Pastoral poetry is the fantasy of withdrawing modern life and living the organic life. Most of the poems depict the natural life lived happily and merrily by Shepherds. Some of them are closely knitted with nature and the organic life of a rural folks.
