In the history of modern Carnatic music, the concert scene and the Sabha influence have radically changed how concerts and Carnatic presentation used to be, and what they are now. The concert structure had to change to meet modern demands, to make the Carnatic concert and experience more accessible to the listeners. In this post, we shall look at how and why the new concert structure was formulated, and then also look at some of the pros and cons of this new structure.
