For a Carnatic musician, learning never really ceases. One must always constantly strive to expand one’s repertoire, or to learn new styles of music, or to exapnd one’s musicoogical knowledge base. The process of learning is one that goes on throughout the life of a musician. This post shall look at how Carnatic music is learnt in its formative years, and then shall also look at various other sources of learning once one reaches a particular level of proficiency.
