I picked up It’s All Called Love expecting a light romance read, but what I got was a collection of stories that felt very close to real life. The book is not about dramatic love stories or fairy-tale endings. Instead, it talks about everyday love — imperfect, messy, emotional, and honest. Each chapter tells a different story, with new characters and situations. Some stories made me smile, some made me uncomfortable in a good way, and a few stayed with me even after I finished reading. I especially liked how the author shows love in different phases — first attraction, misunderstandings, long-term relationships, separation, second chances, and even loss. It reminded me that love doesn’t always look the same for everyone. The writing style is simple and easy to read. It doesn’t try too hard to impress, which I appreciated. The dialogues feel natural, like conversations we hear around us. A few stories felt rushed and I wished they were longer, but at the same time, the short format keeps the book engaging and quick to finish. My favourite part of the book is how relatable the characters are. They are not perfect, and that’s what makes them believable. The book reflects modern relationships and real emotions, especially in an Indian context, which made it more connecting for me as a reader. Overall, It’s All Called Love is a warm, heartfelt read for anyone who enjoys short stories about relationships and human emotions. It’s a good book to read when you want something light yet meaningful.
I like short stories and especially have a soft corner for romances. So I loved it thoroughly.
It is a lovely book of love stories by Dipika. A must read.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of them but I must say when I read the first one, Altering Ego, the protagonist share the name with my hubby and I was like visualizing myself in Reema...that was really funny and I equally enjoyed reading Wrong number...loved it. Great Book Dipika.
Thank you so much Swati for reading and sharing your feedback. Means a lot
11 Love stories and all showcasing a different aspect of love in very subtle yet striking manner. Few stories have open ended ending and that is the beauty of the writer to exactly stop at a place where reader can take directions in the story as they wish and feel connected to the story. Each story is set in a different backdrop with love being main ingredient makes this book more readable than other short stories collection in the carnival. Love has many features to it and writing a short story on each one is a huge task which Dipika pulled it up very well. Words and emotions are swaying in complete sync in the stories and you will understand the rhythm of love is playing in background. If you are short story lover then you cannot miss this book, my favourite from the lot of 11 is ‘To Be with You Forever’.
