The Blogchatter Book List 2026: 211 Entries, 12 Books, One Very Difficult Decision

Picture a team of readers, a spreadsheet that refuses to stop growing, and a rule that says only 12 books can make the cut.
That was our reality this year. 211 entries came in from readers, authors, and publishers, and every one of them came with a reason: read this, it stayed with me.
We went through them all. We argued over them, and at one point we came close to throwing the rulebook out, and finally agreed on the final 12.
So, what is the Blogchatter Book List?
It isn’t a bestseller chart or a marketing push. It’s a community-powered reading list, built BY the readers FOR the readers!
We asked you to tell us what you’d been reading and what deserved more attention. You didn’t hold back. Readers sent in the books that kept them up at night. Authors put forward their latest work. Publishers shared titles they believed in. Together, the entries made one of the most varied piles of books we’ve ever had to sort through.
Why 211 entries made this so hard
When you’re handed 211 books, a few things happen:
- Your TBR pile becomes a personal emergency.
- You discover genres and voices you never knew you needed.
- You realise that “just pick the best ones” is a trap.
We weren’t comparing similar books. We were weighing a character-driven story against a fast-paced thriller, and a debut author against a well-known name. Every book had a champion in our team, and cutting the list down to 12 took more than one heated conversation.
The Blogchatter Book List 2026: The Longlist
After all the reading, debating, and voting, here are the 12 books that made it:

- The Girl in the Coffee House by Sirjandeep Kaur Ubha
- Burps, Chirps & Cat-Astrophic Turfs by Sonal Singh
- Blood Caste by Shylashree Shankar
- The Fourth Girl by Arefa Tehsin
- Giants by Huthuka Sumi
- Tales from the Dawn-Lit Mountains by Subi Taba
- On the Banks of the Pampa P. Lalita Kumari translated by Purnima Tammireddy
- Almost…Not Quite by Sonali Bhattacharya
- Hawk’s Quest by Deepa Agarwal
- Blame It on the Wedding Season by Rheaa Noor
- And I Am the Arrow by Pia Ghosh-Roy
- Matriarchs, Cows and Epic Villains by Suniti Namjoshi
Twelve books, twelve different worlds. Some will make you laugh, some will unsettle you, and a few might send you into a reading slump because nothing else feels quite as good afterwards. Consider yourself warned.
Not on the list? That’s not the end of the story.
If your favourite book isn’t here, please don’t take it as a verdict. With 211 entries and 12 spots, brilliant books were always going to miss out. A longlist is a starting point, not a final word on what’s worth reading. Every entry we received told us something about what the community loves, and we’re grateful for each one.
What happens next? That’s where YOU come in!
We need your help. The Book List has never been only ours. From the first recommendation to the final vote, it belongs to the readers who shape it. Here’s how to participate:
- Pick a title (or titles) from the longlist that catches your eye and start reading.
- Drop a review on the Blogchatter website. Find the book listing here. You can make reels, posts, stories or blog posts as well. But reviewing it on the website is a must if you want to be eligible to earn reward points. You can use the badge below in your reviews as well.
- Vote for the books you believe deserve to win when we open voting to help us create a Shortlist.
- Share the list with the friend who always asks, “So what should I read next?”

PS: A gentle note that copies won’t be provided by Blogchatter, so readers will need to pick up the book themselves.
You have until 30 November to read the Longlist. Voting for the Shortlist will open in the first week of December.
One last thing
Somewhere in this list is a book that will become your favourite of the year. You may not know it yet.
Start with the longlist, choose one, and tell us what you think. The best reading lists are the ones people argue about, and we’re ready for that conversation.
