In this busy world, everyone is constantly running toward a better future and success. We want to achieve something before our prime period in our life ends which is usually before our thirties for most people. So, there is a constant drive to ‘Hustle’. Especially in recent years, the term Hustle culture has become so popular that at this point it feels overrated.
And in the name of productivity, people go the extra mile every day, working their asses off where their career becomes a priority, and all the other things take a backseat. Even relationship and family come next for a few. But is this healthy?
The phrases or shall we call them mantras like “Hustle Culture”, “The grind never stops”, and “rise and grind” just hint that maximum productivity is valued above all. This mindset simply idolizes workaholism. So how can it not be toxic? It is definitely bound to have a negative impact as the only thing that is at the end of all these is just burnout. Thus, it is important to put ourselves first before everything and spend some quality time with ourselves apart from work. Why not pick up some hobby? It doesn’t always have to be fun and games. Just some distraction from the regular work life. They certainly will change you as a person.
BEATING EVERYDAY STRESS
Today everyone including children faces stress and are under constant pressure to excel. Engaging in hobbies can help us take a break to refresh our minds and body. It will be the best ‘getaway’ from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. And why not have fun right? Doing something that we enjoy will be a great boost for us and more importantly, we feel happy.
ENSURE PHYSICAL WELL-BEING
Any hobby that requires physical activity or spending time outdoors allows us to be physically fit. It is just a fun and great way to stay in shape without fretting. Concentrating on physical fitness can help boost our confidence which is definitely an added advantage. Because now some of us can wear that one dress which lies in the back of our wardrobe for years as we couldn’t get into the dress before without must hassle.
BEST WAY TO DECLUTTER OUR MIND
It might not seem so from the outside but most people’s minds are a mess. It is full of useless thoughts, concerns, and other unwanted thoughts. And there is no need to say about the overthinkers. Pheww. Having a hobby can take our minds off all these stressful thoughts and focus on something that we enjoy doing. It will be like a breath of fresh air. Popular hobbies for decluttering your mind include meditation, painting, drawing, and cooking.
OPENS UP NEW WORLDS AND NEW EXPERIENCES
If we do something in the name of a hobby then most people tend to enjoy the whole process of learning them. As all of us are aware learning something new comes with a whole new set of challenges and experiences. But this will definitely be something different from the usual one. Who knows the experiences we get could add up to the best memories of our lifetime or change our perspective on life. One can never know until you try.
EXPLORE YOURSELF AND QUALITY ‘ME TIME’
One can’t stress enough how important is it to be self-aware. Everything takes a backseat when it comes to our own selves. In order to be happy and make others happy, we should know ourselves the best. That’s why a quality ‘Me Time’ is important. Trying out new things and having new experiences through them can always surprise you. Hobbies are one way to get to know you better. And this self-discovery might be important during the teenage years. One day you might think you are this kind of person but you might find the new person you discover to be more beautiful.
Do some research and find a few things that may pique your interest or what you have always wanted to try and start immediately. It is not always you find it on the first try but keep looking, you are bound to find something that interests you and makes you happy. So, what is your leisure activity? What are your thoughts on hustle culture?
