Book Review : The Night Diary by Veera Hiranandani
The book is about 12-year-old Nisha, who is half Muslim and half Hindu. It’s 1947, and India is separated into two countries: Pakistan and India. The division has created much tension and hundreds of thousands are killing people due to religious conflicts. Nisha lost her mother and her father decides that it is too dangerous to stay in Pakistan so they decide to go to India. As refugees, they embark on a perilous journey. This is a very poignant tale about war and loss. This book is in the form of letter written by Nisha to her deceased mother.
