Thou shalt be authentic
When a composition is presented in a recital, it is naturally an expectation that the composition be sung how the composer visualized it. In other words, the composition must be sung in an ‘authentic’ form. The problem now encountered is, what should be the standard of authenticity? Who or what should determine what version of a composition, what lineage of disciples, or what school of music, is an authentic one?
