Videos have become an integral part of your work today. Even if you don't consider yourself as a video blogger, a simple teaser video acts as a promotion for your blog post. Keeping this scenario in mind, we curated this year's Lights Camera Chatter sessions from where we actually got a handful of gyaan! As the month of July starts, videos ring in the air and we are automatically talking about just videos and nothing else.

The first session started with the basic knowledge of starting a YouTube channel and most importantly scaling it well. DD is a true professional when it comes to workshops. He explained each of the sub-topics with his own experience making it easy to believe and adapt. The highlights of the session were:

  • A video script is important. Practice it well so that the flow comes to you naturally.
  • Don't overthink or be conscious of what you are talking about. Just be calm.
  • Choose the genre that comes to you naturally and you can talk about it in the middle of the night.
  • Check your audience's response by posting your content at different times. On the basis of this information create your content calendar.
  • Giveaways and contests act as steroids and boosters for your channel. Run them often.

What does it take to be a successful booktuber in India by Sankalpita Singh?

Books connect our community. Every blogger or YouTuber is a reader first and then the content creator. Many book bloggers want to become Book YouTuber and that's when Sankalpita's session helped a lot:

  • The algorithm for Google and Youtube is different so don't fuss over comparing your content on the wrong platform.
  • YouTube is instant. You get responses immediately in the comments section as soon as your content goes live.
  • Book YouTubing is much more than book reviews. List of books, comparing two books, categorising books into adult/beginner etc. all come under one umbrella.
  • Conducting polls on YouTube helps you decide your next video topic.
  • SEO is important for YouTube as well.

Content planning for your channel by Swati Kumari

This was yet another interesting session by Swati Kumari. She taught many of the sections of content planning by her own experience while making financial planning videos. She emphasised the following points to make your video making process easier:

  • Planning is important to make things flow easily.
  • YouTube is much faster in terms of reaching its audience than a TV telecast.
  • Your approach can be like a pyramid that starts with a broad topic and gradually narrows to one specific point. Whereas, inverse pyramid approach is when you start with one single topic and keep on adding related topics to it. This way you broaden the scope.
  • Scripting helps you share your knowledge in a way your audience understands.
  • Practice makes you comfortable on camera.
  • Reading is an important part of any content creator as it keeps them updated with Trends.
  • Your content should involve the what, when, where, why and how about your topic that makes it useful for your audience.
